How we built a headless storefront for a premium golf lifestyle brand — powered by Shopify's state-of-the-art Hydrogen framework, with AI-generated product imagery, AI buckle engraving, behavior-driven ad optimization, custom belt builders, B2B lead-gen tooling, and a native iOS + Android app.
The Challenge
DRUH is a premium golf lifestyle brand — exotic-leather belts, apparel, and accessories worn by 400+ tour professionals. A brand at that tier needs a storefront that feels as considered as the product: fast, editorial, and capable of selling personalized goods without breaking the Shopify commerce backbone.
The goal was a headless storefront that could support interactive product builders, corporate collaborations, AI-generated custom previews, and sophisticated ad optimization — backed by a companion mobile app and internal tools that let the team run merchandising, content, and B2B prospecting without leaving the platform.
Key Features We Built
Built on Shopify's state-of-the-art Hydrogen framework with React Router v7, Tailwind v4, and Vite — deployed on Shopify Oxygen for sub-second, edge-rendered performance worldwide. All the flexibility of a custom React app, all the commerce power of Shopify.
State-of-the-art AI image generation (Nano Banana Pro via fal.ai) produces product shots, feature imagery, and lifestyle scenes on demand — no photo shoots required. New SKUs and collections go live with polished, on-brand imagery in hours, not weeks.
A multi-step 'Build Your Own' wizard guides shoppers from leather type (full-grain, crocodile, ostrich, lizard, snakeskin, stingray) to color to buckle — each step updating a live summary. A premium configurator that turns browsing into a custom-product experience.
Customers upload a logo and see it engraved (embossed or debossed, color or monochrome) on the buckle of their choice in ~15 seconds. Generated previews are emailed via Resend, converting a custom-design inquiry into a ready-to-quote lead.
Facebook Pixel wired into Hydrogen's analytics pipeline streams behavior and conversion signals back to Meta. The ad stack continuously tunes creative and targeting against real buyer intent — not guesswork — improving ROAS over time.
Dedicated partnership pages (Crocodile Vault, Custom Collaborations, Tour Players) paired with a buckle-builder lead-capture flow and quote-request API. Corporate gifting and team inquiries feed directly into an internal pipeline instead of a generic contact form.
A purpose-built internal CRM under /system-admin/leads discovers golf clubs via Google Places + Brave Search, enriches them with Firecrawl site extraction and LLM-based structured parsing, and classifies access type. Long-running enrichment runs on Trigger.dev; every field stores source evidence.
Content is authored in Sanity and augmented by an AI blog generator (Trigger.dev background jobs, regeneratable hero imagery). Merchandising, storytelling, and SEO content ship at the pace of a modern editorial team — with zero CMS lock-in.
A companion Expo + React Native app shares a single Shopify Storefront API layer with the web store. Native checkout via Shopify's Checkout Sheet Kit, shared GraphQL fragments in a monorepo, and a unified product catalog across every surface.
The Result
DRUH launched with a Hydrogen storefront, a native mobile app, and a full suite of AI-powered tooling — all backed by Shopify. Shoppers get a premium, configurable experience; the DRUH team gets AI-accelerated imagery, ad optimization, B2B prospecting, and content publishing that would normally require an entire agency stack.
